PARA QUE NÃO HAJA DÚVIDAS

Em 1864 o Pastor Tiago White, ao escrever a introdução ao livro “Spiritual Gifts” (Dons Espirituais), vol. III, págs. 9-10, da autoria da sua esposa, disse, entre muitas outras coisas, o seguinte:
«Matt. XXVIII, 18-20. É-me dado todo o poder no céu e na terra. Portanto, ide, ensinai todas as nações, baptizando-as em nome do Pai, e do Filho, e do Espírito Santo; ensinando-as a guardar todas as coisas que eu vos tenho mandado; e eis que eu estou convosco, todos os dias, até á consumação do século. Ámen.
Esta grande comissão relaciona-se com o evangelho, a fé, o baptismo, a salvação e os dons espirituais. O evangelho devia ser pregado enquanto houvesse pecadores para ouvi-lo. A fé é igualmente um requisito em toda a era Cristã. O baptismo é uma ordenação perpétua na igreja, e os ministros do século dezanove baptizam ‘em nome do Pai, e do Filho, e do Espírito Santo,’ porque a comissão original assim o requer. Os termos da salvação afirmados nesta comissão devem vigorar enquanto houver pecadores para salvar. Em paralelo com tudo isto, encontramos na mesma comissão dons espirituais. Na ausência de provas quanto a estes dons estarem restritos a alguma época específica da Igreja cristã, só esta comissão é evidência suficiente da sua perpetuidade.» (Trad. directa:M.N.Cordeiro)

SO THAT NO ONE MIGHT DOUBT
In 1864 Elder James White in writing the introduction to the book of his wife, “Spiritual Gifts”, vol. III, pages 9-10 says the following:
«Matt. XXVIII, 18-20. ‘All power is given unto me in Heaven and in earth. Go ye, therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you, and lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.’
The high commission relates to the gospel, to faith, to baptism, to salvation, and to spiritual gifts. The gospel was to be preached as long as there were sinners to hear it. Faith is also requisite throughout the Christian age. Baptism is a perpetual ordinance in the church, and the ministers of the nineteenth century baptize ‘in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost,’ because the original commission requires it. The terms of salvation stated in this commission were to be held out as long as sinners might be saved. Running parallel with all these, we find in the same commission spiritual gifts. In the absence of proof that gifts were to be restricted to any particular age of the Christian church, this commission alone is sufficient evidence of their perpetuity.»
Note carefully the words: “THE ORIGINAL COMMISSION REQUIRES IT”. Praise the Lord!
